If only customer satisfaction could be “fixed” with a simple number like NPS.

But life that easy. In the early 1990s , I helped build the customer loyalty program for a 500 computer systems company. We looked at various components of satisfaction and loyalty and we asked the NPS questions that Reichhold is now championing as a panacea.

What we found is that recommendation levels are very much culturally dependent. That means in countries or with ethnic groups scores will be inherently low or high, based on cultural norms, and there much you can do to change them.

We also found that what gets measured, gets managed. A focus on improving those recommendation scores that could be influenced distracted resources from fixing the real problems driving satisfaction and loyalty.

Since then had the to do business with organizations that use NPS as a key metric. Heaven help you if you are ever labeled as a negative promoter. The system is set to reward those employees who move moderately happy customers to promoters, not to worry about those who are obviously unhappy (who are interestingly more likely to tell many others about their bad experiences).

There are no magic potions. true whether talking about losing weight or increasing customer satisfaction. The simple truth is that nothing substitutes for hard work and discipline to attack the root cause of a problem.

version: the HMS Investigator was sailing *east* and got entrapped in heavy pack before being abandoned at the *western* entrance to the the NW Passage (well, one of them). It is interesting to read the account of journey of the Investigator in this book. The ship was entombed at Mercy Bay for two winters, in the intervening summer it was unable to move being a captive of the ice. They were saved because of a sledge journey which McClure took in the spring of 1852 in search of a cache (which did not exist) at a place called “Winter Harbor”. The cache did not exist. He did leave a note there and the subsequent year a sledge found the note left at Winter Harbor and came looking for him.

It is interesting to compare experience with the experience of the which found the wreck of the Investigator this summer. Get your history straight.

This product is able to structure master data hierarchies to (among other things) customer data integration built on identity resolution and deduplication based on data hygiene activities.

Here I see hygiene as validating and correcting attributes or groups of attributes in the data.

For customer (business data the postal address is one group of attributes. We use several tools and services for that. At highest level we also have chosen AddressDoctor, because it has a good global coverage. But we also use national movers check services and also in several European countries you are able to use public citizen registration (which seems to be better organized than in the US).

For other attributes as phone numbers, email addresses, names and genders we have other solutions.

With B2B records we use the D&B worldbase for global validation, correction and hierarchy assignment, but again in some cases there are national alternatives available around the world.

Very interesting topic, one that companies are increasingly having to consider. I personally believe, it is up to the individual to strike the balance between business and social worlds – especially at the senior level. Banning websites suggests a level of mistrust of your employees, but I have seen some situations where this has been necessary (not at a senior level).

In regards to using social networking to form a competitive advantage, many employees can become excellent brand ambassadors. The caution of misrepresentation, as your rightly point out, should be made clear.

However, one area I disagree on is your thoughts on recommendations. Recommending someone on LinkedIn for example is different than providing a reference. It is a small insight into the executives working style and ability and extremely useful in fostering connections on social networking sites. I have yet to hear of a situation where someone is held liable for offering positive feedback.

Bad habits are hard to break and we can always do things better tomorrow than the way we did them today. This is what the reform will bring, change for the better. In fact, that change is not only needed to protect my assets and everyone but needed so the entire World will once again feel like they can invest in our Financial System.

The entire Financial Sector which is going to be affected by this legislation would do well to in its redaction with their and so they can eventually “own the reform” and know how to comply with it.

If after what happened in the Fall of 2008, which we are still tackling today, someone feels that this needed, then, they need their head examined, unless of course they just like the conditions under which they were able to play Hocus-Pocus to “legally” steal Billions$ of peoples savings, and Pensions.

The science used in the Amerithrax investigation was developed and conducted by the TOP in each field. The NAS review will be done by second tier and/or by top in related fields.

What do you expect will be accomplished by having a bunch of AMATEUR DETECTIVES review the same information?

The information – scientific and otherwise – that points to Dr. Bruce Ivins as the anthrax mailer will be released when the Amerithrax investigation is officially closed. According to news that could be any day now. THAT will be the information that your amateur detectives will go crazy over. Having a bunch of amateur detectives waste time by sending in FOIA requests so they can theorize and speculate about purely scientific findings is ridiculous!
